New York, NY - Lauren Greenfield's career-spanning doc feature Generation Wealth
continues its' massive run with a nomination by the 2019 Writer's Guild of America awards, who have nominated Greenfield and the film for Best Documentary Screenplay.
The nomination caps off what has been a monumental year for the film following its' world premiere at Sundance 2018. After the festival, Generation Wealth
moved on to Berlinale, SXSW, and a theatrical release through Amazon Studios - the first documentary financed under Amazon’s banner. Variety noted that "Greenfield makes a compelling argument for a society on the brink of precipitous decline, choosing to interpret the runaway vanity and rampant materialism observed in her own work as harbingers of our imminent destruction."
The film is a tentpole of Greenfield's multi-media exploration of the same name, which includes a photo exhibitionAnnenberg Center for Photography, International Center of Photography New York and Fotomuseum in the Hauge. The Generation Wealth
monograph, published by Phaidon, went on to win critical acclaim and a Lucie award for Book Photographer of the Year and a gold ADC award for Best In Photography. Lauren has also been appointed a 2019 ADC Jury Chair.
Lauren is the second Chelsea director this year to be nominated by the WGA. Alex Gibney is currently nominated in the Adapted Series race for the acclaimed Hulu series The Looming Tower
is now available on digital, VOD and DVD. The 2019 WGA awards take place Sunday February 17th. Check out the full list of nominees HERE
